One Day in Venice & Islands

A Day in Venice & Islands

THE QUEEN OF THE ADRIATIC
Venice was for more than a millennium the capital of the Republic of Venice and known in this regard as "the Serenissima", "the Dominant" and "the Queen of the Adriatic", names opposite to "the Superb" or "the Dominant of the Seas ", referring to the Maritime Republic of Genoa, Venice's main competitor and adversary. Due to its urban planning peculiarities and its artistic heritage, Venice is universally considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world and is included, together with its lagoon, among the World Heritage Sites protected by UNESCO. Venice is a unique city in the world, a wonder, a miracle on water, an open-air museum.
